Children of the Corn is a repository, in chronological order, of the Nebraska child dump writings of bastard bloggers Marley Greiner (The Daily Bastardette) and Lauren Sabina Kneisly (Baby Love Child). Some of the entries pre-date the July 18, 2008 enactment of Nebraska's notorious child dumping law, LB 157. Most, however, were written in the wake of the massive "legalized" child abandonments that have taken place in the state beginning September 1, 2008. To date 31 children, mostly pre-teens and teens, have been dropped off at Nebraska hospitals, including a family of nine children. At least another 13 abandonments have been attempted, but for various reasons failed or rejected by state authorities. These include attempted self-dumps by two 18-year olds and a 16-year old high school honors student with her 10 month old baby.
Children of the Corn is intended as a resource for those researching so-called "safe haven" or "Baby Moses" laws, Nebraska's LB 157, adoptee rights activists, adoption reformers, child welfare advocates, bastards, legislators, the media, and the just plain disgusted.
The bloggers have actively opposed "safe haven since 1999. They believe that all such laws should be repealed, and that Nebraska is the place to start.
